Also, if you hold the 'Select' button, it will boot you into OFW (this is if you have the perma patch, im not sure if it is the same if you dont have the perma patch on), and then if you hold 'X+O+Start+Select', it will uninstall the perma patch... - How to update from 5.00 m33 and how to get there from Prome-4/Gen : Show
- Things you will need:
Pandora Battery (just in case) Magic Memory Stick (just in case)
Step 01: BY WANTING TO UPDATE, YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND IF YOU BRICK, IT IS NOT ANYONE ELSES FAULT BUT YOURS FOR NOT FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS Step 02: DOWNLOAD HELLCATS RECOVERY FLASHER, if you are on 5.50 prome-4 or 5.50 gen, hellcats is what your gonna use to downgrade your psp **EXTRA INFORMATION**: THE REASON WHY YOU WANNA DOWNGRADE TO 5.00 m33-6, is because sometimes you will get a 9.90 error when trying to update directly to whatever ofw you want... it is also the safest route to go about when updating from an earlier firmware **EXTRA INFORMATION**: YOU COULD ALWAYS TRY PLAYING AROUND WITH YOUR VERSION.TXT FILE, this has been known to fix the 9.90 problem and help with updating, do this at your own risk though... if you do end up editing your version.txt file, you go into your vsh menu and change usb device to flash0, change the version information to the 5.50 one, save, and change usb device back to memory stick **EXTRA INFORMATION**: THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN INCIDENTS WHERE HELLCATS IS NOT NEEDED, some users have reported being able to update to OFW without the use of hellcats, it is wholly up to you what route you wanna take, out of the possible 3 routes, just make sure you are sure and very careful Step 03: PUT HELLCATS ON YOUR MEMORY STICK, ms0:\PSP\GAME Step 04: RUN HELLCATS RECOVERY FLASHER, just follow what the program tells you to do, it should be simple enough to guide you through downgrading your psp to 5.00m33 Step 05: ONCE THE DOWNGRADE IS COMPLETE, GO INTO YOUR SYSTEM SETTINGS AND CHECK YOUR FIRMWARE, this it to make sure that the downgrade was successful... if your doing this though, you should have all the tools necessary to bring your psp back to life, in the event of a brick Step 06: DOWNLOAD DESIRED OFW FOR DESIRED CFW/LCFW AND THE PRO UPDATE FOR DESIRED CFW/LCFW, below this section, i have provided links to download to both the OFW update for psp phat/slim and pspgo, as well as the most recent update for PRO Step 07: PLACE OFW UPDATE AND CFW/LCFW UPDATE CONTENTS ON YOUR PSP Step 08: FOLLOW CORRECT SECTION OF THE GUIDE FOR WHATEVER OFW/CFW YOU HAVE CHOSEN
**EXTRA INFORMATION**: ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS REMEMBER..... THAT WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO UPDATE FROM AN EARLIER FIRMWARE TO A MORE RECENT OFW, THAT YOU ARE NOT IN PRO.... BEING IN PRO AND TRYING TO UPDATE YOUR OFW WILL CAUSE BRICK, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.... THE REASON FOR THIS, IS BECAUSE PRO HAS A FLASH PROTECTION BUILT IN, KINDA LIKE AN UBER FIREWALL OR AN UBER ENCRYPTION THAT PREVENTS ANYTHING FROM HAPPENING TO THE VITAL PART OF YOUR PSP..... ALWAYS REMEMBER TO THROW YOURSELF OUT OF PRO, WHETHER IT BE BY RESTARTING SYSTEM VIA VSH MENU, OR BY TURNING OFF YOUR PSP COMPLETELY AND TURNING IT BACK ON **EXTRA INFORMATION**:

Step 01: IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON 6.20 OFW or 6.20 PRO BX, just download the PRO B8 or B9 update package above. Step 02: ONCE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED THE UPDATE PACKAGE, put the contents of (PROUPDATE, FastRecovery, and Permanent Patch in the ms0:\PSP\GAME (or ef0:\PSP\GAME if you are using pspGO) folder. Step 03: ONCE THE CONTENTS OF THE DOWNLOAD PACKAGE ARE ON YOUR PSP, run the PROUPDATE, this will update your psp to the latest cfw from the pro team, B8 or B9 (if you had PRO on before, than i believe you hold the L button and push X, if it is your first time using PRO, i think you just push X and it should install... if that doesnt work, then proceed with the step above, which is the hold L and push X) Step 04: CHECK YOUR SYSTEM SETTINGS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ON PRO B8 or B9, this is just for reassuring purposes, to make sure that the update was successful.
OPTIONAL - Step 01: IF YOU WANT THE PERMANENT PATCH, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALREADY UPDATED TO PRO B8 or B9 OPTIONAL - Step 02: CHECK TO SEE WHAT MODEL YOUR PSP IS, psp unhackable 1g through 5g is the only psp that the permanent patch will work on, anything above the 5g psp, and it might cause a brick. **EXTRA INFORMATION**: IF YOU DOWNGRADED FROM A LATER CFW OR OFW, TURN OFF ALL YOUR PLUGINS, the reason for this is, because after your psp has the perma patch installed, it will keep crashing if your plugin is not compatible.... i went through this and scared me halfway to death, it was a good thing i had a memory stick reader on the side (i was later informed that, i could take out my memory stick, turn on the psp, and put the memory stick back in, slowly enabling plugins and resetting vsh to see which ones was causing the crash) OPTIONAL - Step 03: RUN THE PERMANENT PATCH, this will give you a warning, and ask you if you wanna test out the vsh before it actually installs the patch, if you dont wanna sample it and just wanna get it over with, push the O button i believe it was, to answer NO, and it should proceed with the installation OPTIONAL - Step 04: CHECK YOUR SYSTEM SETTINGS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ON PRO B8 or B9, sometimes the perma patch can crash your psp thats why, this is just to make sure that it is still in pro OPTIONAL - Step 05: TURN OFF YOUR PSP FULLY, or go into the vsh and reset system, this will cause your psp to reboot OPTIONAL - Step 06: CHECK YOUR SYSTEM SETTINGS TO MAKE SURE YOUR STILL ON PRO B8 or B9, if the perma patch was successful, then congrats, your unhackable psp has just been hacked to be fully cfw :D OPTIONAL - Step 07: YOU MIGHT WANNA CHECK YOUR PLUGINS IF YOU DOWNGRADED FROM A LATER LCFW VERSION, plenty plugins only work for specific cfw, just do a little searching if thats the case and redo all your plugins (i have had to do this many times, so its no biggie, small price to pay for the best cfw IMO)
**EXTRA INFORMATION**:VERY VERY IMPORTANT, WHEN YOU INSTALL THE PERMANENT PATCH, THE PROGRAM WILL MAKE A FILE CALLED VSHORIG.PRX AND SAVE IT TO THE ROOT OF YOUR MS (DONT TOUCH IT).... IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BACKUP THIS FILE, AS THE PERMANENT PATCH SUGGESTS THAT YOU DO SO... I have been informed that, the PRO updater has an uninstall function built into it as well, but it is still highly recommended that you uninstall the perma patch through the patch itself (this is probably the safest, your choice though).... I have also been informed that, you shouldnt brick, should you choose to update OFW version, while the perma patch is on, the reason for this is because OFW updates completely formats the flash0, so everything cfw related on there, will be wiped clean off your psp and you will be put on OFW (this is however, subjective, as there have been incidents where people have brick'd going to OFW while on CFW/LCFW)... **EXTRA INFORMATION**:
**EXTRA INFORMATION**: ONCE YOU HAVE THE PERMA PATCH IN PLACE, you can delete the PROUPDATE, FastRecovery, and the perma patch from your MS.... you could also choose to keep the PROUPDATE and perma patch on your MS somewhere where you or other unsuspecting people will touch it.... the reason for this is, both of those programs have an uninstall function, which will be used to update to a new cfw, should one be released.

**EXTRA INFORMATION**: IF YOU WANNA DOWNGRADE FROM 6.35 TO 6.20, , MAKE SURE THAT YOU ALSO HAVE THE 6.20 OFW UPDATE
**EXTRA INFORMATION**: YOU CAN DELETE THE PROUPDATE FROM YOUR MS, or you can keep it on.... when i was using 6.35 PRO, i had both of em on my MS, sometimes i would boot from fastrecovery, sometimes i would use the update to boot pro... the choice is ultimately yours

**EXTRA INFORMATION**: ONCE YOU HAVE THE PERMA PATCH IN PLACE, you can delete the PROUPDATE, FastRecovery, and the CIPL_Flasher from your MS.... you could also choose to keep the PROUPDATE and CIPL_Flasher on your MS somewhere where you or other unsuspecting people will touch it.... the reason for this is, both of those programs have an uninstall function, which will be used to update to a new cfw, should one be released. **EXTRA INFORMATION**COLDBIRD HAS SAID THAT, WHEN THE NEW VERSIONS OF PRO COME OUT, THAT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE PERMANENT PATCH/CIPL FLASHER ON, THAT THE SAFEST WAY TO UPDATE IS TO USE THE PATCH/FLASHER TO UNINSTALL THE CFW (THIS IS NOT NEEDED FOR 6.35), AND THEN USE THE NEWEST UPDATE TO UPDATE YOUR VERSION OF CFW (PRESSING THE L + X BUTTON TO UPDATE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), AND THEN RUNNING THE NEWER PERMANENT PATCH/CIPL FLASHER THAT COMES WITH THE RESPECTABLE DOWNLOAD PACKAGES... IF EVERYTHING IS DONE CORRECTLY, YOU WILL HAVE FULL CFW WITH THE NEWEST VERSION OF PRO :D **EXTRA INFORMATION**Useful LinksCREDITS: PRO TEAM EVERYONE ELSE WHO HELPED MAKE CFW POSSIBLE EVERYONE ELSE WHO HELPS WITH HOMEBREW, PSP HACKS, CFW, OR PLUGINS PSP-HACKS FOR HOSTING THE OFW VERSIONS MYSELF FOR WRITING THIS OUT GRAYBACK (PSPGWEBER) FOR POSTING THE NEW PRO UPDATES WHEN THEY ARE RELEASED STEPS (WOLOLO) FOR PRO AND OFW INFORMATION DEVANTE314 (PSPGWEBER) FOR HIS HELP IN SOME ISSUES AND FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION 8710LOE (PSPGWEBER) FOR GIVING ME A HEADS UP ON SOME OF THE PRO SYSTEM FEATURES LEECHERMAN (PSPGWEBER) FOR POSTING THE NEW PRO UPDATES WHEN THEY ARE RELEASED
