Hey there. I see that this thread is getting some recent attention. So I will try and get a little myself. This is going to be a very long post, and I sincerely appologise for that.
I am new to the CFW scene. I have no idea what I can do with cfw, or what I should do. I understand that I can "obtain" games in iso form (something I already do extensivly on PC), and use it to run "homebrew" (I guess this means like custom, user made applications and software?).
I want to get into using homebrew, cheats, iso's, cso's, and everything. I have looked up a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of info on CFW. There is so much that it all bleeds together, and it seems that everywhere I go, there is a different method of using cfw.
There are threads from 2007-2010, old threads, describing pandora batteries, magic memory cards, "bricked" PSPs, Soldering your battery, CFW version this or version that; CFW pro-b, pro-c, 6dot whatthefuckever, methods of installing the aformentioned CFWs, ALL of them different; info about what custom stuff works with what custom firmware (what a clusterfuck of information that is, it seems that there are no two posts or tut's that explain compatability the same.(this one being no different)).
I have looked up at least 50+ tutorials and how-to's, read them through, word for word, and none of the god damned things have the same methods twice, or the same recommendations/requirements.
I have read about m-33, and emulator drivers. There seems to be so much god dammed conflicting info on CFW. I need someone to make sense of all this for me.
So let me start with this:
I now have CFW. I downgraded from 6.39 to 6.2 using the downgrader, and then I installed the 6.2 pro-c fix 3 CFW. Everything went very smoothly, and I got none of the errors I read about that others were getting (I attribute this to my very keen ability to follow directions without fail.) I then ran the permanant patch to make my CFW 'stick'. I did this after EXTENSIVE research, and no less than about 10 hours of reading tut's and how-to's
One thing that worries me is the fact that I am seeing all this stuff about 6.6 pro-c fix 3. I am wondering if I should update to this CFW, and if I should, how I should go about doing so. So yea, thats kinda my first question.
So thats where I am. I am trying to now see what I can do with this. What are the possibilities, and where do I go from here?
What I am curious about is all this stupidly amalgamated information on homebrew and compatability. I have read, in several places that "this app doesn't work with a "non-pandora'ed" system" OR.. "you cant use cwcheat with anything other than CERTAIN CFW". This is a MAJOR problem... no information is consistant, and its all f**king confusing.
Idk.. maybe I'm over thinking it. Can I get some help please? This is me begging.
To be more precise, I will make a list of questions that pretty much sums up what I am trying to say/ask:
1. Should I upgrade from 6.2 pro-c fix 3 permanant?
2. IF I should, how do I go about doing so? The same method I used to install the 6.2?
3. What is homebrew exactly? (I am sorry, I am a man of facts, and there are no real definitions available for this term)
4. What is the difference between the old "hard modded CFW" and the new "soft modded CFW"?
5. WTF is compatable with what? (by this I mean "what apps/homebrew/stuff in general can I use with the pro-c CFW?
6. What is "VHS/Recovery" and how do I use it?
The whole reason I got into the CFW scene was because I saw that it could use emulators, get new games and iso's by "acquiring" them, to be able to use hombrew stuff, because what I have seen so far looks cool, and lastly, to use cheats like cwcheat. If I am being completely and totally honest with myself, Kingdom Hearts BBS is the reason I started down this road. I wanted to make a "god character" basically. (If anyone can tell me how to do this, I shall kiss your feet...)

What I have done so far is install the CFW 6.2 pro-c fix 3, and installed this:
That's it, that's all I've done. I have started using cwcheats on Kingdom hearts bbs, and whenever I activate a code, it never deactivates untill I restart the game, no matter if I disable cheats or not. So that also I problem I cant figure out. The cheats work fine, I just can't turn the damned things off.
